December 2015
Cabo saw conditions in December that may have never been seen before. Water temps near 80 degrees and species such as Blue Marlin are still present. Some true giant Blue Marlin are biting. Bad Medicine hooked three Blues over 400 lbs mid-month, and many were seen each day by the fleet. Seems this trend will continue for the next month, as warm blue water still lies north of Cabo. Scary, as these Blues appear out of nowhere and attack with a true vengeance. If you have not seen a 500 lb Blue Marlin in the sure spread, up close and personal, you have to get this on your bucket list.
The Striped Marlin bite is also very steady with 5-6 shots per day being common. The Stripeys are hitting lures and live bait and trolled dead bait. Perfect conditions for using light tackle for the Striped Marlin and having some fun on the fly rod as many fish come up on the lures each day. Mixed in there are some very healthy Dorado and Wahoo as well. Now is the time of year for solid, consistent action pretty much all day long.
The fishing is so good, it appears that most are not venturing out for the Tuna. Those that have gone looking are finding decent schools of average size fish. The conditions are very good and we know the big Yellowfin Tuna bite is coming soon. January will be a stellar Tuna month for sure.
Thanks and look forward to getting you on the water!
